Purgatory Glacier

Here is a view of Purgatory Glacier that I made back in 1992, shot with a 300mm lens on my 4 x 5 view camera, I had spent a week hiking and camping in the Bella Coola area, many great memories and images from this trip.

Really shows the grandeur, vastness, and quiet mystery of the glacier. Beautifully captured. I wonder what it looks like today; have you ventured to nearby parts more recently?

Thanks, Andy !, Yes I too have wondered what it looks like today, its not easy to get to the glacier, at the time I had a high clearance four wheel drive truck and drove up a decommissioned logging road. The Bella Coola Valley is about a 2 day drive north west of me in Kelowna here, one of these days I will get back there though !

That photo is deceiving. I looked at the thumbnail and then the full scale you've got there, and wow. I'm a geologist and I've looked at lots of photos of glaciers including stereoscopic pairs of aerial photographs of glaciers and this picture ranks right up there with those. Stunning. Well done, I'll bet that was a fantastic trip.
